2008 PPR Running Backs: Rankings and Analysis

Point Per Reception fantasy leagues, better known as PPR leagues, have been gaining lots of momentum in recent years. Why? Because fantasy mimics reality. In today’s NFL, running backs have become a crucial part of teams’ offenses, thanks to players like LaDainian Tomlinson and Brian Westbrook. Practically lost are the days of big, bruising backs who run north-south, and instead, athleticism reigns supreme nowadays.

When discussing PPR leagues, the focus is typically on the running back position. Of course, wide receivers and tight ends get their respective points for receptions, however, additional points to your fantasy RB position throws a huge wrinkle into the concept of fantasy football. Generally speaking, those receivers and tight ends who rack up big yardage will still remain atop their positions whether a PPR format is implemented or not. Yet, when your fantasy league involves PPR, rankings at the running back position most likely will begin to change.
